Our Story.

On a mission to bring fresh-edge recruitment into Swansea, Work Wales was founded in 2008, by Company Directors, Sophie Benyamin and Christina Allen. Driven by their passion to redefine recruitment and achieve their shared life-long dream of becoming successful business owners, they launched the company, completely confident of the success that would follow. Both strong-willed, hardworking grafters, Sophie and Christina always knew they had the ability to succeed in whatever they put their minds to.

Since then, they’ve been making career dreams a reality for thousands, working closely with big brands, local one man band employers and ambitious individuals to make great things happen – and what a ride it’s been!

They’ve survived a national recession, a global pandemic, had six children between them, raised plenty in charity ventures starting with their 2009 Abseil for NCH Cymru, and most currently, a 250 mile team effort run throughout January lockdown with 13 years’ worth of charity efforts in between. They’ve scooped up a few awards along the way too, including the Swansea Bay Women of the Year award and the Young Entrepreneur title at the Swansea Bay Regional Awards. Many of the clients onboarded in the first year of business, remain clients today, whilst candidates placed by Work Wales have successfully climbed the career ladder, returning to the company as decision makers for recruitment within the businesses they work for. It’s these incredible achievements and rewards that truly speak volumes.

Specialists in careers, but with community firmly on their agenda, Work Wales continue to give back to the charities and causes they support. Each year, Matts Café receive a Christmas donation of £100 per every invoice raised through December, and they support the vulnerable on their transition back to work. The company also work closely with Maggie’s Cancer Charity, with recruitment consultants volunteering time to support cancer patients on their journey back to the workplace; and each year, they host an easter egg collection for 3 children’s cancer charities. One year, they received so many donations, they also visited the local children’s hospitals and surprised the sick children with chocolate goodies.

Of course, this is all great, but for Sophie and Christina, the biggest achievement of all, is knowing Work Wales are continually giving good people fantastic career opportunities, and creating so many internal professional jobs for Work Wales staff, career progression and growth within the company.

Firm believers in the motto ‘hard work pays off’, their company expansion with a presence now in Haverfordwest, Swansea, Llanelli and Cardiff, is truly testament to their mission and passion to deliver cutting-edge recruitment to exceptional standards. Christina and Sophie haven’t even scratched the surface of what dreams and ambitions are. Family life has seen some ideas take a temporary back seat, but with both their families settled and complete, the dynamic duo are set to continue with plans to further develop the Work Wales brand.

Today, they’re proud of the team they’ve grown, developed and nurtured and their accolades and awards sit proudly on their desks and shelves; but more than anything, they’re proud to be recognised as one of the most trusted and reliable recruitment agencies in South Wales. Their solid reputation is everything and really speaks volumes for how invested both Sophie and Christina are, in making the business a long term success.

Joined by a talented collective of individuals, each with years of professional experience behind them, Work Wales are now a fully-fledged team of ambitious recruitment consultants and managers. Together, they dream big and achieve higher and they’re always chasing the next adventure.

Here’s to a brighter future with Work Wales.
