Hours: 40hrs a week - Monday to Sunday - Rota Basis

About my client:

My client offers a state of the art, city centre fitness facility, boasting a 2 level 180 station gym with a group exercise timetable of more than 80 classes per week, plus free weights and a functional training area, separate functional fitness rig, a WOW (women only workout) area, 2 group exercise studios and a brand-new top of the range spin studio. They also have a relaxing spa with treatment rooms as well as sports and event facilities and Wales best waterpark. The Fitness Manager vacancy offers the opportunity to make a difference.

About the role:

Main duties of the role are to maintain the highest levels of customer experience whilst maximising sales, and YOY improvement on retention whilst increasing the number of live members.

Key duties of the role:

  • To manage, develop and motivate the fitness team on both the gym floor and group exercise timetable
  • To be responsible for the day-to-day management and running of the Gym and group exercise studios to the highest standard
  • To ensure every member has the best experience including a 4-step interaction program on joining the facilities
  • To be a proactive member of the Centre's management team
  • To ensure the site meets its key targets
  • Ensuring that a monitoring and evaluation process in place to increase income and usage in all areas
  • To manage the fitness facilities and studios in a professional and business orientated manner, taking decisions in accordance with the organisations aims and objectives
  • To have a thorough knowledge of all areas of the centre and liaise daily with the site management team in order that any decisions can be made in a knowledgeable and informed manner
  • To supervise and manage fitness staff on a day-to-day basis ensuring that all work and performance is carried out in accordance with the set procedures and that motivation and morale levels are high
  • To develop and implement new fitness products and courses
  • To lead by example and deliver an agreed number of practical sessions per week
  • To assist the membership team in the delivery of prospect tours and outreach work
  • Staff Recruitment / planning / including succession planning and skills mix/ team development
  • Rota and staff planning - reviewing staffing Levels to meet membership demand
  • Inductions and ongoing inhouse training of the team
  • Deal with HR related issues i/e absence management, investigation and disciplinary
  • To undertake performance reviews for all team members on an annual basis ensuring feedback on performance is given monthly in line with e policy and procedure
  • Communicate effectively with your team on a timely basis ensuring robust systems exist so the staff feel informed and involved
  • To have responsibility for risk management and health and safety in the workplace

Requirements for the Fitness Manager

  • Passionate about people and helping them to achieve their goals of becoming healthier and improving their wellbeing
  • Relevant higher professional qualification in leisure or fitness
  • Strong people management skills
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of sales, developing key targets and implementing marketing strategies
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a fitness facility
  • Group exercise delivery qualifications such as indoor cycling, kettlebells, ETM, Circuits, Yoga, Pilates
