Work Wales are looking for experienced Assembly Operators to work with our Swansea based client.

Job Role: Materials Handler

Hours: 39 hours/week

Shift: Days

Pay: £9.95 (To be reviewed inline with performance related pay scheme)

Overview: To ensure safe and continuous production by maintaining an adequate supply of all the required materials and component parts whilst best utilising the equipment provided so satisfying our customers' delivery schedules, plus ensuring parts from Production are both put away and accurately stored.

Main tasks of job:

1. To liaise with the planner during the shift to discuss what jobs are being produced in the welding / riveting departments and use initiative for forward planning and preparing kits in advance.

2. To act accordingly in stocking up the correct components and the correct quantities as per the job description and production schedule.

3. Ensure that materials and parts are put away in the correct storage location when completed by the relevant departments.

4. Maintain the main picking and storage area to a high standard of housekeeping, accuracy and efficiency, both physically and on EFACS.

5. Make sure all stock counts are completed on a weekly basis and to continually check stock quantities of all components when gathering stock requirements for the welders /riveters/final assembly. Report any short falls in stock quantities i.e.; minimum level requirements, to the Logistics Team Lead and Planner.

6. Ensure all consumable picking locations are stocked with required parts where applicable.

7. Liaise with powder coating to ensure correct stock is being coated and manage stock after powder coating.

8. Support in production covering absence/holiday where required.

9. To be a good communicator at all levels and to liaise with the team leaders, section leader and planner and to review the production schedule daily.

10. To ensure that the oncoming shift has enough stocks to start / complete the job required. Movement of WIP and finished goods between sections. Put away materials/plastic boxes into set locations. Collapse and store all pallet packs. Waste removal. Update status boards.

11. Monitor the current stock levels to ensure an adequate supply of component parts to meet predicted requirements in liaison with the Production Planner.

Ensure the adequate supply of the required materials at the workstations to maintain efficient production.
