Opportunity to join a progressive industrial manufacturing company based in Pyle. Be part of a world leading company in their field. The company has been in operation in South Wales for over 70 years and is now part of a larger international group.
The Role
This position will have the dual responsibility of Process Engineer and Lean Coach, a role considered essential within the business and reporting directly to the Operations Manager.
You will be responsible for all process engineering, process development and Lean coaching on site. It is a key role in all aspects of H&S, process control and sustainability, CI and lean coaching under company's lean system. Duties will include:
- Working closely with production teams to interpret customer requirements, ensuring first time right design and production methods.
- Working closely with the Quality, H&S & Production team designing the right processes to improve day to day running of the equipment and ensure future product and machine performance increases.
- Identifying and driving continuous improvements and cost reductions in production processes
- Overseeing improvement projects from start to finish.
- Increase machine output and maximise productivity in production areas.
- Improve the H&S of the site working closely with the H&S officer and ops manager.
- Analysing data to discover areas that need improvements and upgrades.
- Improve machine OEE, working closely with shift supervisors and maintenance team.
- Implementing and testing new strategies to help optimise productivity.
- Understand forecast and customer requirement and be able to convert the information into production planning
- Preparing work instructions for new processes and updating WI's as and when required for existing processes.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, experience and attributes:
- Educated to degree level in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or be able to demonstrate suitable experience and knowledge in this area
- A minimum 4 years' experience in process engineering
- Knowledge of manufacturing improvement strategies
- Proven strong technical/process engineering knowledge
- Hands on approach to work with the ability to react well to change in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to evaluate, explain and simplify complex technical issues
- Be able to demonstrate a background in Lean or 6-sigma.
- Must possess the ability to communicate well, written and verbal, at all levels within the company
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database functionality.
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to encourage and engage with operations personnel
- Self-motivated but must be a team player too.
- Driven to succeed
- Very strong collaborative skills
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations within the chemical industry
- Train and support continuous improvement events with departments to determine and eliminate waste.
- Good knowledge of lean methodologies i.e., VSM, 5s, 7waste and be able to apply and implement it on the shop-floor
