The Role

You will work in a well appointed workshop for a government organisation. An opportunity to use your technician skills and make a difference in the community.

This role offers a wide variety of duties, great security and benefits, a 37 hour week and additional pay for call out and being on standby. Duties will include:

• Working on HGV, Light Automotive vehicles, Plant and Equipment
• Performing general maintenance inspections
• Diagnostics and fault finding
• Repair work
• Modifications and installation of additional vehicle extras
• Ensuring all completed work is recorded in detail and accurately within the fleet management system
• Attending out of hours call outs when required (on call +/- 1 weekend in 5)
• Ensuring all organisational policies, service procedures and values are adhered to
• Producing quality work and ensuring vehicle downtime is kept to a minimum

Requirements

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

• Trade qualified mechanic / technician (Level 3)
• Experienced in working on a variety of vehicles i.e.HGV, light automotive and plant
• Solid diagnostic and repair skills
• MOT certification or happy to obtain
• LGV drivers license
• Able to be on call +/- 1 weekend in 5
• Good computer and administration / record keeping skills
• A team player
• Able to consistently produce high quality work

Although you will be working on a fleet, it is made up of a wide mixture of vehicles and equipment offering you good variety in your role.

The working hours are 37 per week, giving you an opportunity for good work / life balance.

In addition to your salary you will be paid a 15% on call allowance for any weekend you work and will receive a monthly tool allowance. Benefits are also excellent offering 25 days leave rising to 32 after 5 years service and enrolment into the local government pension scheme.
