The Company

This dynamic organisation provides printing services for the race and event industry. With their production facility based in Pyle they make use of the latest technology, to offer their customers a wide variety of high-quality products. Their first-class reputation for providing a quality service, fast and efficiently, has spread across the globe making them the preferred supplier for many prestigious international races and events.
Currently in a major Growth phase the need for a General Manager has emerged.

The Role

This newly created position will take over duties from the Managing Director who is looking to take a step back in his operational responsibilities. The role is very hands-on, working in the heart of this very fast paced business, with most of your time spent on the shop floor with the team, rather than in your office. You will need to be a strong leader overseeing all facets of the business, ensuring the team work effectively, making quick decisions whilst multi-tasking the wide variety of duties this role commands.

Duties will include:

OPERATIONS

  • Day to day management of operations throughout the business
  • Running daily operational meetings with the team
  • Scheduling future work and managing the daily workflow to ensure deadlines are met
  • Ensuring high standards of quality are maintained
  • Ensuring Health and Safety standards are met
  • Overall stock control and purchasing of raw materials

PEOPLE

  • Recruitment and training of staff as and when required
  • Management and motivation of the team to ensure smooth running of the operation including printing operations, sales and marketing, finance and dispatch
  • Ensuring staff understand their roles and responsibilities providing feedback to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Setting and monitoring of targets, goals and performance standards for all staff

BUSINESS AND FINANCE

  • Delivering the owners strategy for future business growth and development
  • Creation and maintenance of budgets, targets and forecasts, delivering on targets within agreed budgets
  • Ensure all policies, procedures and systems are effectively implemented and amended when required
  • Providing on-going feedback and activity reports to the business owner through weekly / monthly meetings
  • Ensuring all company financial and legal obligations are met

Requirements

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications, experience and skills:

  • Business degree or similar
  • Proven senior management experience in a SME environment
  • Ability to drive a business forward
  • Solid staff management, motivational and development skills
  • A quick learner with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment is essential
  • Ability to analyse financial data, produce effective reports, implement changes and improvements as required
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Experience from within a high-speed pressurised environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commercial business awareness
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Quality focussed with sound attention to detail
  • Solid IT skills
  • Flexible and progressive
