Work Wales may be an independent organisation but we carry the weight and expertise of many recognisable organisations locally and nationally.
You can feel safe knowing that you are in good hands when using the services of Work Wales.
Here are a list of our support services, accreditations and licences.
Recruitment & Employment Confederation
Every employer should have confidence that their business is in the hands of an expert, trained and experienced recruitment company. The only way to ensure peace of mind, is to work with members of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC), the industry’s trade body. REC members stand for Quality, Excellence, Standards and Best Practice.
Work Wales is proud to be a member of the REC and we are bound by its Code of Professional Practice which details the standards required to ensure employers and job seekers receive a quality recruitment service. REC members are also committed to promoting diversity, bringing to your business the benefits of a diverse workforce that complies with Government regulations.
In conclusion, I would like to say what a pleasure it was to meet you and to see such an excellent agency. I can now confirm that you have passed the inspection.
In 2007, the REC introduced a programme of mandatory inspections as a condition of membership. Each month they select a number of corporate members to be visited by an Assessment Officer and assessed against 10 areas of REC standards and industry regulations. All 10 areas was quite an achievement.
Work Wales passed the inspection with flying colours and were advised that very few agencies pass first time; and that they are a credit to recruitment agencies. This is a testament to Work Wales's high standards and practices and gives their clients confidence that their business is in good hands.
The Gangmaster licensing scheme regulates businesses who provide workers to the fresh produce supply chain and horticulture industry, to make sure they meet the employment standards required by law.
As an employment agency labour provider who provides workers to these sectors then we are required to have a GLA licence - it is a criminal offence to supply workers without a licence or use an unlicensed labour provider.
- Shellfish gathering
- Any associated processing and packaging
How does the licensing scheme work?
Work Wales has been assessed to check we meet the GLA licensing standards which cover health and safety, accommodation, pay, transport and training. The GLA authority checks that we are fit to hold a licence and that tax, National Insurance and VAT regulations are met.
What are the benefits of licensing?
Workers receive fair treatment, the pay, benefits and conditions they are entitled to.
Labour providers are not undercut by those who pay less than the minimum wage or avoid tax. Industry standards are raised.
Labour users can check their workers come from a legitimate provider and are informed if their labour provider’s licence is revoked.
Consumers can be assured that their food has been picked and packed in an ethical environment. Illegal activities which lead to a loss of public revenue – income tax, VAT and NI – are reduced.
