Quality/ISO (9001 and 14001) Health Safety Manager
Established in 2011, our client has built an enviable reputation within their industry.
They are now looking to recruit an experienced Health & Safety / Quality professional to join a highly driven management team.
Our client is ideally seeking an individual with previous knowledge and experience with quality assurance in an industrial context and in establishing ISO 9001 or 14001 in organisations, a NEBOSH (or equivalent HSE qualification) and worked in industry. The post holder will also require experience of managing approvals from various professional and regulatory sources.
This is a leadership position that requires an individual to manage all the health and safety aspects on multiple projects, prioritise work under pressure and demonstrate initiative. Moreover, our client values self-starters who can demonstrate a strong grasp of recognised risk control strategies and management principles. Our client would expect the successful candidate to be up to date and aware of any new and relevant legislation as well as someone that can and will drive the development of the Quality / H&S / Environment Policy, encouraging people to buy in by demonstrating real value. The ideal candidate will be responsible for these 3 areas as well as adding some creative thinking to the business. There will be on occasion a sales element to the role where applicants should feel confident and have experience in leading meetings/conferences, preparing presentations and communicating key performance indicators and their relevant counter-measures and contingency plans. Ideally this would be supported by an appreciation of health and safety issues within the water industry.
Knowledge and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
·Education - A bachelor's degree (4 year) or higher in Safety, Engineering, or related technical engineering field.
·Experience - Ten (10) years of industrial safety experience managing project safety preferably in the oil and gas or water industry. Experience of quality systems and working to ISO standards.
·Relevant Work Experience - Advanced knowledge of industry practices, regulatory agency requirements and industry standards. Worked within the oil and gas sector with a preference for relevant experience in the water industry.
·Communication Skills - Must have very good written and oral communications. Required to speak effectively before groups of Senior Management, clients, subcontractors, and/or employees of the organisation.
·Computer Skills - Excellent computer skills required. Must have experience with Microsoft Office Programs
·Reasoning Ability - Use of basic reasoning, thinking "on your feet", and ability to resolve issues quickly with little or no direction from a superior. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
·Good negotiating skills.
·Ability to make good judgments and render good decisions.
The key accountabilities of the Health & Safety Manager are:
·monitoring and reviewing the Company's Health & Safety risk control systems, specifically risk assessments and safe systems of work, and recommending and supporting implementation of improvements as appropriate;
·reviewing annually the Company's Health & Safety Strategy and delivering key improvement projects;
·advising managers of trends and developments in Health & Safety management and recommending changes and improvements to meet statutory requirements and appropriate best practice;
·maintaining the Company arrangements for accident reporting and investigation and, in particular, reporting notifiable accidents to the HSE;
·investigating accidents to identify underlying causes and to recommend corrective action;
·supporting the Company system for near-miss reporting and investigation and completing technical reviews, audits and any further investigations as necessary;
·preparing reports and an annual safety report, collating relevant information and reviewing progress in the light of annual Health & Safety objectives;
·carrying out periodic Health & Safety audits;
·maintaining personal competence in Health & Safety through continuing professional development;
·working with managers to implement the company's policies and goals.
