Head Chef - Permanent position / Temporary positions

We are in search of a head chef who will be able to have the authority to control his/her own kitchen in its entirety. From menu creation, to employing his/her own team. Salary to be agreed in the region of £30k - £40k dependent on experience

The right Head Chef organises the kitchen's activities. You will be the first in command in the facilities and will create and inspect dishes before they arrive at the customers ensuring high quality and contentment. Enforcing Food Safety Standards are adhered too. We are looking for someone who will have the Patience, Personality and Perseverance to thrive in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Control and direct the food preparation process and any other relative activities
  • Construct menus with new or existing culinary creations ensuring the variety and quality of the servings
  • Plan orders of equipment or ingredients according to identified shortages
  • Remedy any problems or defects
  • Be fully in charge of hiring, managing and training kitchen staff
  • Oversee the work of subordinates
  • Estimate staff's workload and compensations; Establish the working schedule and organize the work in the kitchen so that everything works like a "well-oiled machinery"
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-oworkers
  • Produce high quality dishes that follow up the established menu and level up to location's standards, as well as to clients' requirements
  • Plan the food design in order to create a perfect match between the dish's aspect and its taste;
  • Train the auxiliary kitchen staff in order to provide best results in minimum time and using at the maximum the available resources
  • Developing a cross-marketing strategy in order to increase profit, such as pairing drinks with the food served

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Head Chef
  • Exceptional proven ability of kitchen management
  • Ability in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
  • Good understanding of useful computer programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
  • Credentials in health and safety training
  • Degree in Culinary science or related certificate
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Excellent record of kitchen and staff management
  • Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions
  • Team spirit
  • Flexibility to work in shifts

Hours: Full time

Pay rate: £30,000 - £40,000 - negotiable, depending on experience

Duration: Permanent
